This week marks the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.
September 11, 2001 is a day that is forever etched in the minds and memories of our community and country. It has become an occasion for our nation to come together in a day of remembrance and service.
Here in our community, Spokane County United Way has organized a community Day of Action to pay tribute to those lost on September 11th and in service to our great nation.
A full day of volunteer activities is planned Thursday in Spokane, in partnership with the City, including a noon program and rally. Over 350 volunteers from local companies and the community will be helping out at the West Central Community Center, West Central Episcopal Mission, Salvation Army, Our Place, and other community locations.
You can be a part of this incredible effort. Volunteers are still needed for everything from cleaning and painting to reading to children and distributing food to local families.
Spokane is leading by example and demonstrating once again that we are a community that is quick to rally with numbers in support of those in need. Get involved and be a part of positive change in our City.
