Budget feedback needed

Investments in public safety and streets, always top citizen priorities, are again important elements of the 2018 Program Budget, which is the first draft in the budgeting process. The Program Budget is the culmination of months of discussions with citizens about their priorities and city performance, and conversations with the City Council about where we need to invest to make Spokane safer, smarter and healthier.

A few items still require more discussion with the Council in the coming weeks and the budget is still a draft, which is where we need your help. Over the next several weeks, the City Council will hold a series of study sessions and hearings looking at each division and department budget.

We need your feedback to make that happen. An interactive tool allows you to move money around and submit a balanced budget with comments to me directly at mayor@spokanecity.org. Or, if you prefer, you can download a PDF version of the program budget. (PDF 31.5 MB) You can also send your feedback to the Council President and other councilmembers.

Ultimately, the goal is pass a final 2018 budget by early December and maybe even sooner.
