HCT Program Offers Construction Workforce Training

Are you interested in a construction career? Inland NW Associated General Contractors’ Head Start to the Construction Trades (HTC) program might be the right fit for you!

The HCT program offers workforce training to local residents interested in entering construction trades. Associated General Contractors has partnered with Women Helping Women Fund, the City of Spokane and the Center for Justice to offer training in the following areas;

  • Introduction to commercial and residential carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, HVAC techs, welding, heavy equipment operation and ironwork
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Hand and power tools
  • Flagging Certification
  • First aid/CPR with AED certification
  • Construction math
  • Material handling
  • Forklift certification
  • Work concepts including interview skills/practice and resume writing
  • Money and time management
  • Personal strength builders communication skills
  • Post-graduation assistance with includes employment search and introduction to contractors in the trade of your choice!

HCT is a FREE six week course comprised of both classroom work and hands-on job site training. In fact, each graduate will leave the program with at least 160 hours of job training!

Last week, the Head Start to the Construction Trades program celebrated their first female only class graduation. These women are ready to take the construction world by storm! Past HCT graduates have gone on to great careers and we are excited to see what these women will do. In fact, some of these HTC graduates are even working on City of Spokane construction projects!
