Students Draw Attention to Recycling

Kids say the darndest things.They also think, act and draw in the darndest ways.

More than 230 Spokane County students in grades K-8 entered the recent Spokane Recycles Poster Contest sponsored by the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System. Their work, created to help raise recycling awareness in Spokane County, was based on the theme, “The Power of Recycling is…” The annual competition is part of America Recycles Day activities that took place across the country through Thursday, Nov. 15.

All 33 grade level finalists were recognized at the Wednesday, Nov. 14 meeting of the Spokane County Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Of those, it was announced that the work of 17 would appear in the 2019 “Spokane County Recycles” calendar.
