The City of Spokane's Communications Department reached more than 250,000 viewers in 2018 with its top ten most watched videos.
The City's social media messaging was ranked third best in the nation by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors.
“We are using Facebook and the City's web pages to connect with our customers, find out what people want, and make our citizens aware of new programs,” Mayor David Condon said.
Videos that made the top ten list focused on the ways Spokane Police fight crime and a new program that helps people suffering from mental illness.
Several of the stories featured bodycam video of police officers at work, including the patrolman who saved the life of a five-year-old boy.
Viewers also shared several videos about programs designed to create new opportunities for people experiencing homelessness.
