The gravel road that runs through High Bridge Park is temporarily closed to vehicle traffic as a result of excessive ice buildup and deep ruts.

The gravel roadway is blocked by locked gates at two locations:

  • South “A” Street at High Bridge Park Rd
  • West 11th Avenue at High Bridge Park Rd

What visitors need to know:

  • The Centennial Trail is unaffected by the temporary closure.
  • The dog park, disc golf and park remain open.
  • High Bridge Park Road is still accessible to pedestrians.
  • Vehicle access into the park is easiest off “A” Street between Riverside & 7th Ave.

The gravel road is heavily shaded, and various mechanical and chemical attempts to remove the buildup of ice have not been effective enough to ensure a safe road for travel by vehicle. The road closure is anticipated to last a few weeks, but is being evaluated daily.

All City departments including Fire and Police departments have keys to open the gates on High Bridge Road in case of emergency.

For more information or questions, please contact Park Operations at 509.363.5455. Thank you for your patience while we work to ensure the road is safe for vehicle travel.
