Dutch Jake's Park Master Plan Open House Focuses on Revitalization

Nov. 29 at 10:21 a.m. - Dec. 14, 6:30 - 8 P.M. at the West Central Community Center. Project designed to improve safety, accessibility and provide opportunities to gather.

The Creek at Qualchan Golf Course Retains Mark Gardner as Head Pro

Nov. 10 at 10:26 a.m. - City of Spokane Parks & Recreation renewed a contract with PGA Professional Mark Gardner to serve as Head Professional/Manager at Creek at Qualchan.


Riverfront Unveils Ice Ribbon Grand Opening Date & New Logo

Oct. 30 at 3:31 p.m. - Riverfront's ice ribbon, the first completed redevelopment project, will open Dec. 8. Riverfront also shared a new logo for the park's next chapter.

Fall Leaf Festival at Finch Arboretum Saturday, October 28

Looff Carrousel Horse Exhibition at the MAC

Oct. 6 at 4:10 p.m. - The City of Spokane Parks & Recreation has partnered with the MAC to bring an exhibition of hand-carved horses from craftsman Charles I. D. Looff.

Section of Fish Lake Trail Intermittently Closed for Improvements

Oct. 6 at 2:23 p.m. - Beginning Monday, October 9, a portion of the Fish Lake Trail will be intermittently closed for repair. Work is expected to be completed October 27.

Riverfront Park Selected for $600,000 in Brownfields Cleanup Grants

May 31 at 3:31 p.m. - The EPA has selected the City of Spokane for brownfields cleanup grants totaling $600,000, to clean up contaminated soils at 3 sites in the park.

Upper Falls Reservoir in Riverfront Park will be temporarily lowered

May 24 at 9:07 a.m. - On behalf of the City, Avista will draw the Upper Falls Reservoir down 1.5’ May 24 - June 12, 2017 to accommodate Riverfront Park redevelopment.

Fish Lake Trail Partial Closure Sunday, May 7, 2017

May 5 at 4:27 p.m. - Fish Lake Trail between the Sunset Highway and Cheney Spokane Road will be closed Sunday, May 7 for power line work.


Arbor Day Celebration at Finch Arboretum Offers Free Workshops

Suspension Bridges Re-Open in Riverfront Park

March 27 at 3:36 p.m. - Riverfront Park re-opened suspension pedestrian bridges. While enjoying incredible river views, please use caution. The river remains closed.

Downriver and Creek at Qualchan Golf Courses Open This Week

March 20 at 4:19 p.m. - The Creek at Qualchan opens Wednesday March 22, and Downriver opens Thursday, March 23, 2017. They join Esmeralda, open as of March 20.

Esmeralda Golf Course Opens Monday, March 20, 2017

March 16 at 11:13 a.m. - As early signs of spring arrive, Esmeralda golf course is preparing to open Monday, March 20.

Looff Building Demolition Begins Next Week

March 10 at 4:30 p.m. - Construction on the new building for the Looff Carrousel is underway, with building demolition scheduled to begin Monday, March 13, 2017.

New Salish Name for Canada Island in Riverfront Park

March 10 at 1:22 p.m. - Park Board selected a new name for Canada Island - a Salish name snx? mene? (sin-HOO-men-huh), translated to Salmon People.


High Bridge Park Gravel Road Temporarily Closed to Vehicles

Feb. 24 at 6:48 p.m. - The gravel road through High Bridge Park is temporarily closed to vehicle traffic as a result of ice buildup and deep ruts. The park remains open.

Final Weekend of Ice Skating at Riverfront Park’s Ice Palace

Feb. 23 at 4:47 p.m. - Enjoy one last skate at the Ice Palace before it closes Sunday, February 26, 2017. Come fall, the new ice ribbon and pond are scheduled to be open.

Renaming Canada Island at March 9 Park Board

Feb. 6 at 9:26 a.m. - Park Board welcomes community feedback prior to selecting a new name for Canada Island in Riverfront Park at the March 9 meeting at City Hall.

A Peek into Spring at Manito’s Gaiser Conservatory

Feb. 3 at 3:03 p.m. - Think spring! Tulips, daffodils, and hyacinth bulbs are on display through the month of February. Many orchids are also in bloom.


Name Recommendations for Canada Island Presented by Spokane Tribe

Jan. 12 at 11:43 a.m. - The Spokane Tribe will propose two Salish name recommendations for the renaming of Canada Island in Riverfront Park for Park Board consideration.
