On Saturday, April 29, Mayor David Condon will kick off an Arbor Day Celebration at Finch Arboretum. The event is free and open to the public.

WHAT: Arbor Day celebration kick-off and Tree City USA award
Throughout the Arbor Day Celebration – rain or shine – Spokane Urban Forestry will present family activities, tree care and environmental education. Spokane County Master Composters will share all there is to know about bringing life to your soil. Visitors will enjoy tours of the trees and history of the Arboretum, learn how to attract birds and bugs to help a garden and yard thrive, and plant trees along Garden Springs Creek. The Arbor Day Foundation will recognize Spokane with a Tree City USA designation for the 14th consecutive year.

The John A. Finch Arboretum is Spokane’s “outdoor classroom” for naturalists, horticulturists and students of all ages. Located just off the Sunset Highway, the Arboretum occupies 65 acres of land along Garden Springs Creek where thousands of trees and shrubs can be seen and studied.
