The Park Board will vote Thursday on a proposed corporate partnership at the Skate Ribbon and SkyRide.

The partnership would provide additional free and low-cost programs at the Skate Ribbon, expanding on popular current offerings like free ice skating lessons, discounted skate days, and theme nights. It would also provide additional programming operations funds.

The 2012 Riverfront Park Master Plan encourages exploration of public and private sponsorships to sustain the community’s investment in the redeveloped park. In February 2018, Riverfront announced they would seek programming and facility title sponsors. We’re grateful to early community partners who helped us expand free programming, such as Yoga on Ice with Athleta, and Sunday Funday with Tomato Street. View a full list of community partners.

Joining with a corporate naming partner would build on this momentum to provide even more affordable family entertainment.

If approved, the name of the Skate Ribbon and SkyRide would officially include the name of the corporate partner. As with all collaborations, naming partners must align with the mission of Parks and Recreation. If approved, the corporate partner will be announced in a brief ceremony following the vote.

The redevelopment of Riverfront is on budget, and all five bond projects are fully funded without corporate or private donations.
