Request a Ride-Along

Interested in experiencing police work up close? Learn how to request a ride-along with an SPD officer, including eligibility details, scheduling information, and what to expect.

We welcome adult members of our community (18+) to ride along with an SPD officer to learn more about public safety in Spokane.

Due to safety considerations, ride-along requests are carefully reviewed and not guaranteed.

Priority is given to:

  • Law enforcement job applicants
  • Criminal justice students
  • Visiting officers and community partners

How to Request

Start times: 6:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., or 8:00 p.m.
(Excludes holidays and large events like Hoopfest or Bloomsday)
Ride-alongs last about 4 hours.

Please Note:

  • A background check and interview are required
  • Riders must be able to participate unassisted
  • Officers may need to drop you off in a safe location due to an emergency response — please plan for backup transportation

Ride-Alongs for Media:

Media representatives must submit both the Request to Ride Form and the Ride-along Agreement for Media Form.
