Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 2400 E. Empire last night just before midnight. Detectives are interviewing the individuals believed to be involved, who are cooperating with police. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Two search warrants are being executed this morning in connection to the shooting.

Last night (10/08/13) just before midnight, the Spokane Police Department responded to a shooting call at 2400 E. Empire. Upon arrival, officers located a male with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers attempted CPR, however the individual who was shot died at the scene. Police quickly located a man believed to be involved in the shooting leaving a residence on Sinto Ave. The man is cooperating with police and being interviewed by Major Crimes Detectives to gain more information regarding the circumstances of the shooting. There are no outstanding suspects in this incident, this does not appear to be a random incident and this incident is not gang related.

We expect to be able to release the following information at today’s interview availability:

  • Initial information surrounding the incident and investigation
  • Information related to the two search warrants
  • Witness interviews

An autopsy on the deceased will be performed later today. Detectives will continue to investigate this incident.
