Spokane police continue fatal shooting investigation

Spokane Police Major Crimes detectives continue to investigate last night's fatal shooting, occurring just after 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of S. Garfield on the South Hill.

  • The homicide investigation is ongoing, however detectives do not believe this shooting was random. At this point in the investigation, detectives believe the victim was targeted by the shooter.
  • We've asked for technical assistance and personnel support from other area law enforcement agencies as we investigate.
  • The Spokane County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim and the official cause of death.
  • As this is an ongoing investigation, we do not anticipate the release of further details today or in the coming days.
  • Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has surveillance cameras in the surrounding area that were recording last night is asked to call Crime Check at 456.2233 and file a report.
