Suspect hits officer with vehicle while attempting to flee traffic stop; 27 year-old Laci Anthony arrested for Eluding, 2ndDegree Assault and a Felony Warrant for 2ndDegree Theft.

On 01-26-14 around 4:45 p.m. Cpl McCullough observed a vehicle in the area of West Central and recognized that the driver, Laci Anthony (27) had a felony warrant for her arrest. He stopped the vehicle at Ash/Gardner. He walked up to the vehicle and confirmed the driver was Anthony. He advised her she was under arrest, opened the door to the vehicle and attempted to take her into custody. Anthony reached up and put the vehicle into drive and accelerated away from the scene. The door post of the vehicle hit the officer as it sped away. The impact from the collision knocked him to the ground, although luckily he wasn’t injured.

Officers located the vehicle abandoned several blocks away at Bridge/Lincoln. Alert citizens pointed to where the suspect had fled. Officers quickly located and took Anthony into custody a block away. Anthony was booked into jail for Eluding, 2ndAssault and a felony warrant for 2ndTheft.

She will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
