A DUI driver hits an SPD Patrol vehicle and flees; Officers quickly arrest the suspect nearby; 43-year-old Aaron T. Scott was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Attempt to Elude a Pursuing Police Vehicle, DUI and Hit and Run. The involved officer was not injured.

Early this morning, 5/16/14, at approximately 1 a.m., a Spokane Police officer was driving northbound on Monroe approaching Walton when another vehicle driving westbound on Walton struck his patrol vehicle, causing the vehicle to spin, and fled on westbound on Walton towards Madison.

The officer who had his vehicle hit was able to gain control of the vehicle, and along with another nearby officer, pursued the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of Jefferson and Heroy. The driver initially gave a false name to officers, however officers were able to positively identify the man as 43-year-old Aaron T. Scott. Scott was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Attempt to Elude a Pursuing Police Vehicle, DUI and Hit and Run.

The involved officer was not injured, nor was the suspect and the SPD patrol vehicle sustained only minor damage.

Scott will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
