Spokane Police Officers arrest a hit-and-run suspect thanks to alert citizen tips and quick officer follow-up. Roderick Thomas (25) was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Felony Hit-and-Run w/ Injuries. The victim driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injures.

On 05/19/2014, just before 3 p.m., officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Cedar and Wabash. The victim driver was still on scene, but the vehicle that caused the crash fled prior to police arrival.

Several citizens had seen a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in the area. One of the witnesses was able to provide a license plate for the suspect vehicle and a description of the driver (later identified as Thomas). Another witness had seen the damaged suspect vehicle pull into a house, dragging its front bumper on the ground as it parked in a garage. That witness flagged officers down, and told officers where the car had parked. This information led officers to a house in the 5800 block of north Cedar.

Officers took Thomas into custody without incident. He was booked on the above felony charge. Major Crimes Collision investigators responded and will be continuing the investigation to determine if additional charges are warranted.

Thomas will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.
