This will be an update to the original Spokane Investigative Regional Response Team’s release about the Spokane County Detention Services Corrections Officer shooting at Deaconess Hospital this morning. The name of the inmate who attempted to escape this morning is 26-year-old Cameron A. Trevino.
Cameron Trevino had been arrested on Friday, July 11, by the Spokane Police Department for 1st Degree Assault with a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. These charges stemmed from an incident where Trevino confronted an acquaintance with a firearm. Officers were on scene within a minute of the first call to 911 and were able to apprehend Trevino as well as recover the firearm he had had tried to dispose of in some bushes as he ran.
Trevino has a previous felony conviction for Burglary in the 2nd Degree. The SIRR team will not only investigate the shooting itself, but will determine what additional charges Trevino will be facing for this incident.
