Stolen Vehicle Recovered Within Hours of Report; Suspect in Custody

Spokane Police Officers locate and recover a stolen vehicle hours after it was reported stolen. Twenty-year-old Andrew A. Albert was booked for Theft of a Motor Vehicle and will appear in court today at 1:30.

Yesterday, 11/11/2014, just before 8:30 a.m., Spokane Police responded to a report of a vehicle in the 900 block of east 35th. The victim of the theft said the vehicle had been taken sometime overnight.

Around 10 a.m., members of the Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT) located the vehicle near Nevada and Bridgeport. The officers attempted to follow the vehicle, but did not pursue due to safety concerns with the vehicle’s high rate of speed and erratic driving. A short time later, just after 10:30 a.m., PACT Sgt. Kurt Vigesaa spotted the vehicle again and they were able to safely stop the vehicle near Sprague and Ralph.

Andrew A. Albert was taken into custody without incident and later booked into Spokane County Jail for Theft of a Motor Vehicle. He will appear in court today at 1:30 p.m.

Vehicle Theft in the City of Spokane is down nearly 8 percent year-to-date. Nearly 80% of vehicle that are stolen are recovered. Overall Crime in the City of Spokane is down 12% year-to-date.
