Spokane Police Department’s Traffic Unit Investigating Fatal Collision

At approximately 9:45 pm last night, the Spokane Police Department responded to Sunset Boulevard and Rosamond  on the report of a serious injury, head-on collision. This roadway has a posted 40 mph speed limit.

A black 1998 Chevrolet Blazer was travelling east on Sunset Blvd. A white 2007 Ford Focus was travelling west on Sunset Blvd. One of the vehicles crossed the center line and the two vehicles collided.

Both vehicle sustained extensive damage. The 23 year-old male driver of the Blazer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The 33 year-old male driver of the Focus died at the scene.

Traffic was detoured around Sunset and Lindeke for several hours while traffic investigators conducted the investigation.

At this time investigators have not determined if speed or alcohol/drugs were factors in this collision.

Investigators ask that anyone who witnessed the collision, or either of the vehicles just prior to the collision, contact Crime Check at 456-2233.
