The Spokane Police Division’s Targeted Crimes Unit (TCU), along with other agencies, assisted the Medford Police Department with finding and arresting a suspect wanted for homicide out of Oregon. Shane Zornes (26) was taken into custody around 2:00pm without incident tonight just outside of Rosalia. He was booked into Spokane County Jail to await extradition to Oregon. (see attached Medford press release)
The Spokane Police Division’s Targeted Crimes Unit (TCU) has been working with Medford Police Department detectives for the past week due to Zornes’ connections in Spokane. In the last couple days, TCU and MPD detectives independently generated intelligence indicating Zornes was likely in Rosalia. Due to the serious nature of the crime, TCU and the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office accompanied MPD detectives to Rosalia where they were able to successfully locate Zornes today, Dec. 16th, 2015, around 2:00pm. Zornes was taken into custody without incident and booked in Spokane County Jail as a Fugitive due to the Oregon homicide warrant. TCU is remaining in Rosalia to further assist MPD in their homicide investigation.
This kind of coordination between agencies is critical to apprehending wanted individuals so they can be held accountable for their crimes.
