Spokane Police respond to a report of a male threatening to commit suicide on Spokane’s Lower South Hill.
On 02/03/16 at approximately 5:30 Spokane Police received a call of a male threatening to commit suicide on the 3000 block of E. 53rd. The male’s mother called 911 and said her son was armed with a knife and was going to kill himself.
When officers arrived the male had already cut himself and was holding the knife to his throat. The officers were able to use de-escalation techniques and talk the male into complying without using any force.
The male was transported to the hospital with severe, non-life-threatening injuries to his neck and wrists.
This was an excellent example of Spokane PD’s use of Crisis Intervention Training and our commitment to help those in crisis.
