Victim in Auto Bike Crash Dies; Suspect Arrested

UPDATE: The victim has died from his injuries. Todd R. Bush was booked into Spokane County Jail for Vehicular Homicide.

One individual transported to hospital after Bicyclist vs. Vehicle Collision on Division St. bridge.

On 05-02-16 shortly after 11PM 911 received a call of a bicyclist that had been struck by a vehicle on the Division St. bridge. Information was the bicyclist had been propelled over the side of the bridge to the area below. Officers arrived on scene in under two minutes and located a male victim. Officers immediately began performing first aid, which was then taken over by Spokane Fire Department Personnel. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of an involved vehicle has been detained.

Major crimes traffic unit detectives are on scene investigating the incident. At this time Division St Northbound from Spokane Falls Blvd to North River is shut down and will be for several hours. Citizens are asked to use the Hamilton St. bridge, Washington St. bridge, or Monroe St bridge to travel North across the river.

With the weather improving more pedestrians and bicyclists are utilizing the roadways. SPD is committed to ensuring all commuters remain safe, and ask both the motoring public and pedestrians to follow all applicable traffic laws to ensure everyone reaches their destination.
