Spokane Police Respond to a Report of Shots Fired at Columbus and Montgomery

Today, 05/29/16, at approximately 5:15 pm a citizen reported that a woman stood on the front steps of her house, near the intersections of Columbus and Montgomery, and fired two shots with a handgun.

Spokane Police officers responded and immediately set up a perimeter around the house to protect neighbors and bystanders.

Spokane Police were able to make contact with the woman via loudspeaker. She came out of her house and was detained by officers.

The woman, identified as 34 year old Jeannie R Rasberry of Spokane.

Rasberry told officers that she someone loitering on the sidewalk in front of her house. She said she tired of feeling threatened so she retrieved her handgun, stepped outside and fired a round in the air.

Officers were able to recover the handgun.

Rasberry was arrested and booked for unlawful discharge of a firearm. She was booked in to the Spokane County Jail.

The Spokane Police Department wants to remind people that irresponsible behavior with firearms is extremely dangerous to the public.
