Adrian A. Washington (36) has received a 112 month (9.3 year) sentence after pleading guilty to one count of 1st Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Assault, and 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Detectives working in the Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force (SRSSTF) arrested Washington in June after a violent assault on a female acquaintance.

Last Wednesday, June 29, 2016, less than 4 weeks after the vicious attack took place, Adrian Washington pled guilty to the above felonies from an incident that took place June 2, 2016. That night, Spokane Police Officers responded to an area hospital on the report of a female that was badly injured from an assault. The victim had reportedly been “pistol whipped” and strangled by Washington after disturbing him while he was sleeping. The victim only knew Washington through another acquaintance.

“This is another great example of the Spokane Police Department collaborating with local agencies to hold violent offenders accountable and seek justice for victims of brutal crimes such as this,” said Assistant Chief Craig Meidl of the arrest and successful conviction.

The Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force in comprised of investigators from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Spokane Valley Police Department, Spokane Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Corrections, US Border Patrol, and the FBI. The SRSSTF is a FBI sponsored task force working to alleviate the criminal activities of gangs, violent criminals and upper level drug traffickers.

Original release:

Detectives working in the Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force (SRSSTF) made an arrest in a violent assault last Thursday night. Adrian A. Washington (36) was booked into Spokane County Jail for 6 separate felonies; Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, 1st Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault-Domestic Violence, and Unlawful Imprisonment.

On Thursday, June2, 2016, just after 6:00pm, officers responded to an area hospital on the report of a female that was badly injured from an assault. The victim had reportedly been “pistol whipped” and strangled by Washington after disturbing him while he was sleeping. The victim only knew Washington through another acquaintance.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home the incident happened in, which was in the 1600 block of east Desmet. Five spent shell casings from a firearm were found, and it appeared that both a refrigerator and television had been struck by gunfire. They also found a door Washington had damaged in order to gain access to the victim to carry out his assault.

Just after 1:00am on June 3, 2016, detectives from the Task Force found Washington and took him into custody without incident near Division and Empire. A firearm that had been reported stolen in January of this year was located during the arrest. Washington was then booked into jail for the six listed felony charges and is now being held on a $100,000 bond.
