Spokane Police are investigating a vehicle vs pedestrian crash in the 500 block of S. Browne St.

On 08/06/16 just after 12:50 pm, Spokane Police responded to the report of a vehicle vs pedestrian crash near the intersection of W. 5th Ave. / S. Browne St. A Honda passenger car was headed southbound when it was involved in a collision with a skateboarder who witnesses said was headed eastbound. The 21 year old male skateboarder was not wearing any protective equipment, and was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. All the involved parties and witnesses remained on scene, and were cooperating with the investigation. The roadway will remain temporarily shut down during the investigation.

Spokane Police urge vehicle drivers to be cautious of their surroundings and watch for pedestrians, skateboarders, and bicyclists near the roadway. With the warm weather comes an increase in outdoor activities and Spokane Police would like to remind people riding bicycles or skateboards to wear protective equipment to limit the severity of injuries in the event of a fall or crash. Failure to wear a helmet on a bike, skateboard, rollerblades, etc. is a $64 ticket in the City of Spokane.
