The Spokane Police SWAT Team, using information from the Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), took a man into custody after a standoff that started this evening lasted into the morning. Officers from the PACT Team were able to develop information that Coby C. Adams (38), wanted for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, was at a residence in the 3900 block of north Washington. After hours in the home refusing to come out, a K9 searched the house and found Adams. He was taken into custody without further incident and will be booked into Spokane County Jail.

Just before 8:00pm, October 14, 2016, the PACT Team, acting on information developed through investigative leads, responded to a residence in the 3900 block of north Washington. The information led them to believe Adams, wanted for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, was in the home. Talks with a female inside the residence were unproductive. Because of the nature of the warrant and Adams previous violent history, resources from the SWAT Team, Hostage Negotiation Team, Explosives Disposal Unit, K9 Unit and US Marshall’s Service were called to try and bring this situation to a peaceful resolution as well as to ensure Adams was taken into custody safely with little risk to the community, officers, or Adams.

After hours of attempting to contact Adams inside the home, a K9 was deployed to search the residence. The K9 located Adams and he was taken into custody shortly afterward. Adams will be booked into Spokane County Jail for the Attempted 1st Degree Murder warrant.

The Spokane Police Department would like to thank the neighborhood near the residence in question for their patience. Unfortunately, they were kept awake most of the night, but their cooperation definitely played a role in the successful end to this incident.
