A water main break near Freya and Congress on the South Hill is causing significant traffic issues this morning. Freya hill is currently closed. Thor from Hartson north will temporarily be a two-way street (normally a one-way southbound) while crews work to fix the break and clear the water and ice. Please use caution and pay close attention to signs directing traffic through the affected area.

This morning, January 14, 2017, just before 2:00am, emergency crews responded to the report of a water main break in the area of Freya/ Congress. Fire crews arriving on scene asked for assistance from Spokane Police for traffic control. Street and Water crews responded as well and are working diligently to get the water shut off. However, even after the water is off, there will be standing water and ice left on the road causing significant traffic issues in the area.

Crews have diverted traffic from Freya to Ray/Thor. Thor north of Hartson will temporarily be made into a two-way street. These traffic revisions are expected to last most of the day Saturday while clean up continues. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution due to the slick conditions and traffic revisions in the area.
