Spokane Police are currently dealing with a standoff situation in east Spokane. Due to safety concerns, Crestline is closed in both directions from Boone to Broadway and Cataldo is closed in both directions from Stone to Napa. These are primarily residential side streets and should not have a significant impact on the morning commute, however, motorists in the area are asked to use alternate routes.
Just before 11:00pm tonight, January 27, 2017, the Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), acting on investigative information involving a wanted fugitive who has known to be armed in the past, responded to a house in the 2100 block of east Cataldo. Just after midnight, officers saw the wanted male run into the home. They also took another male into custody in front of the house who was armed with a handgun.
Officers currently have the home surrounded and are asking neighbors within the block to shelter in place at this time. Crestline is closed in both directions from Boone to Broadway and Cataldo is closed in both directions from Stone to Napa. These are primarily residential side streets and should not have a significant impact on the morning commute, however, motorists in the area are asked to use alternate routes.
Resources from the SWAT and Hostage Negotiation teams are now being utilized in an effort to bring this situation to a peaceful resolution.
