SPD Investigating a Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision

Cpl. Ronald Van Tassel

Monday, June 4, 2018 at 5:25 p.m.

On Monday, June 04, 2018 just before 1pm, Spokane Police and Fire responded to 2nd and Browne for a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival Officers and Medics determined the pedestrian had life threatening injuries and she was transported to the Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

It appears that the vehicle was west on 2nd and tried to turn south (left) onto Browne. There was a pedestrian crossing the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

The investigation is going to continue into the incident. The driver is cooperative and at this time it does not appear that speed or intoxication were a factor. At this time this is being investigated as a collision and not a criminal act.

The victim is an adult female. Her identification won’t be released until a later time.
