SPD Investigating two Tuesday afternoon stabbings
The first incident occurred just after 3:30PM near the intersection of Spokane Falls Blvd and Browne St in Downtown Spokane. An adult male and adult female both suffered injuries. SPD Officers were on scene quickly after the incident unfolded, and immediately began providing first aid to the more seriously wounded person. Both victims received medical treatment, their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The second incident happened just before 4:30PM in the 1200 block of E Trent Ave. An adult male suffered a stab wound and was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. SPD officers responded and immediately began gathering information about the suspect. Less than a half hour after the incident was reported SPD took 35-year-old Joseph W Murray into custody. He was booked into Spokane County Jail for Assault 1st degree.
Spokane Major Crimes Unit detectives are continuing to investigate both incidents. At the writing of this release no arrests have been made in connection to the first incident.
