Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.

On November 20, 2018 at approximately 2:20 pm, Officer Mongan located a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of South Napa Street. Three subjects were found in the vehicle. Johnnie Mosier (39), a four time convicted felon, was taken into custody on an outstanding Department of Corrections (DOC) warrant. A loaded .22 caliber handgun was found on a second subject, identified as John J Birgen (22). Birgen, a seven time convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms. He was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and booked into the Spokane County Regional Jail facility. Birgen had been released from jail the day prior on a separate charge. Mosier was also booked into jail for his warrant. The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant.

On 11/22/18 a search warrant was granted for the vehicle. Officers located another loaded firearm, Methamphetamine and counterfeit money inside the vehicle. Birgen will be charged with a second count of felon in possession of a firearm. Birgen is still being held in jail on a $75,000 bond.

Mosier has pending charges of felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance stemming from this incident. Mosier was sent to Benton County for his DOC warrant.
