Spokane Police are investigating a fatality vehicle vs pedestrian crash on E 29th Ave. near S Mt. Vernon St.

Today, November 23, just after 4:00PM, the Spokane Fire Department and Spokane Police Department responded to the report of a vehicle vs pedestrian crash in the 2600 block of E 29^th Ave. A vehicle was headed eastbound, and struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was initially transported to a local hospital where they later died as a result of their injuries. The driver of the vehicle was cooperating with the investigation, and there was no indication impairment was a factor. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit (MCU) crash investigators responded to the scene for the investigation. The roadway remained closed for several hours during the investigation.

With the changing seasons and weather conditions, the Spokane Police Department would like to remind drivers and pedestrians to be cautious of their surroundings. The rain/snow/or sleet combined with the early darkness can make pedestrians and bicyclists harder to see. Please help prevent crashes by being cautious of the weather and roadway conditions. If you are going to be out near the roadway remember to wear bright colored or reflective clothing.

Spokane Police ask any witnesses to the crash, who have not already been contacted, to call Crime Check at (509)456-2233.

The identity of the deceased and the cause of death will be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office once proper notifications have been made to their next of kin.
