Spokane Police Officers discover a possible explosive device during the execution of a search warrant in a motor home. While executing a search warrant in the parking lot of the Walmart store in the 9200 block of N. Colton in North Spokane, Police Officers located a possible explosive device, firearms, cash, drugs and an unknown substance that may be hazardous.
In the early morning hours of Friday, March 1, 2019 SPD Officers located a possible stolen motorhome in the parking lot of the Walmart store in the 9200 block of North Colton. During their investigation the officers made an arrest of a male subject for unlawful possession of a firearm and developed probable cause for a search warrant for the vehicle.
While executing the search warrant the Officers located more firearms, cash, drugs, possible counterfeit money and what appeared to be an explosive device. They also located a liquid substance in the vehicle that may be been hazardous. The officers immediately halted their search and called for the Explosive Disposal Unit to deal with the device as well as the Spokane Fire Department Haz-mat unit to examine and handle the liquid.
Police are still investigating the matter of the stolen motorhome along with more possible firearm related charges as well as other crimes.
Currently the store is closed and it has not been determined when it will re-open. Police are requesting people please stay out of the area of 9200 North Colton for now.
