UPDATE: Traffic Collision North Freya Way
SPD has arrested Thandan M. Hammel for Vehicular Assault and PCS Drugs (Suboxone).
Below are photos of the collision, the train has now moved but due to the collision and investigation, traffic in the area is still very slow and could remain backed up for an hour or more.
Traffic at Mission and Greene is stopped and or slowed and will be for some time. Please use alternate routes as you travel in that area.
Today at 9:07 AM, SPD Radio dispatched a call of a three car collision with injuries on the North Freya Way rail overpass, just south of Intersection at Mission and Greene. Within a minute the call was updated to include a fourth vehicle and a male was trapped in one of the cars, blocking the south bound lanes of travel.
An SPD Detective working on an unrelated matter was first to arrive and assist. SFD arrived and had to extricate the driver from the at fault vehicle. In total two people were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The SPD Major Crimes Traffic investigators are on scene along with an SPD DRE (Drug Recognition Expert) conducting an investigation into the crime of Vehicular Assault.
Unrelated to the traffic collision and subsequent investigation; a train is stopped just to the East of the intersection of Mission and Greene blocking Mission Ave, preventing any traffic from moving East or West on Mission at Spokane Community College.
