Shooting investigation in Logan neighborhood, no on-going threat

SPD conducting shooting investigation in Logan neighborhood, no on-going threat to the public

 

On 01-28-2020 at about 3:30PM, SPD Officers responded to the area of E Illinois Ave and N Hamilton St regarding a shooting. Initial information provided to 911 was that a male accidentally shot himself while in a vehicle.

 

Officers arrived on scene, located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound, and immediately began rendering first aid. The male was later transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of first responders and medical staff, the male did not survive his injuries.

 

Major Crimes Unit Detectives are actively investigating the incident which includes speaking with witnesses and processing evidence. One of the questions detectives will attempt to answer is if the discharge of the firearm was intentional or accidental.

 

At this time there is no one outstanding, and no on-going danger to the public. All roads in the area are back open.
