Officer Involved Collision

A Spokane Police Officer was injured this morning when a driver ran a stop sign and collided with his patrol car.

This morning a Spokane Police Officers was traveling north on Lincoln at 5th   in his patrol car when a citizen driving west on 5th failed to stop for the stop sign.  The resulting collision drew the attention of Medical staff from Deaconess Hospital who immediately ran out of the building and began giving aid to the officer and other driver. The driver of the car that failed to stop had to be extricated from the vehicle by responding Spokane Fire Fighters. 

The officer and the citizen are currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The SPD Major Crimes Unit traffic investigators are on scene and are continuing the investigation.

We would like to thank the health care workers at Deaconess for their attentiveness and quick response.
