A shooting in East Central Spokane sends one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The shooter has not been located. Detectives are continuing to work at identify a suspect against a lack of cooperation from the victim and many witnesses.

On July 8, 2020, around 2:15 p.m., SPD Officers were sent to a report of a shooting with a victim in the area of 1st Avenue and Madelia Street. A caller reported the victim, not known to them, entered their residence covered in blood.

The first two Officers on scene located the victim laying on the sidewalk outside the residence. Officer Baughn immediately began to triage the victim. He located a couple of actively bleeding wounds to the victim’s leg and applied a tourniquet which controlled the bleeding. Care of the patient was then transferred to the Spokane Fire Department.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Major Crimes Detectives responded and took over the investigation. A search warrant was obtained for another residence at the location. Detectives recovered a firearm and located an improvised explosive device which was rendered safe by the SPD Explosive Device Unit (EDU).

No suspects have been identified or located at this time. The victim and many witnesses were refusing to cooperate and provide information about the shooting.

This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information to assist the Detectives we encourage you to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233 and reference incident #2020-20116185.
