On July 8th, 2020 SPD was dispatched to take a vehicle theft report. Since the complainant lives in Stevens County, this was done over the phone. The complainant stated that she had let her friend Jacob Bozo (26) borrow her car (2006 Pontiac) to run to the gas station about a week ago and he never returned with the vehicle. The complainant tried multiple times to reach out to Jacob herself and through mutual friends but he did not answer his phone.
On July 12th, 2020 around 1:00AM hours SPD officers were dispatched to an apartment complex at the 700 block of W. Cora Ave. for an occupied stolen vehicle recovery. A person from the complex called in stating a vehicle was parked in his parking space. When the complainant called in the vehicle, the license plate he provide came back to a stolen red 2006 Pontiac listing Jacob N. Bozo (26) as the suspect.
SPD arrived on scene and initiated a high risk vehicle stop, a male who was later identified as Jacob N. Bozo was detained and placed into handcuffs.
Per the owners request the vehicle was searched and left at the location for pick up at a later date. The vehicle had been spray painted black to cover up the original vehicle color. The original keys to the vehicle were also in the ignition.
Bozo was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle and booked into the Spokane County Jail.
While in this case the defendant was known to the victim, Bozo has multiple recent charges for this crime (possession of a stolen motor vehicle) in unrelated incidents where he did not know the victim. He was charged with Possession of stolen motor vehicle on February 4th, 2020, March 27th, of 2020, December 19th, 2019, and on September 26th, of 2019.
