Wanted felony assault suspect from King County was located in Spokane and taken into custody.

The Kent Police Department has been looking for 35-year-old Cody P. Hansen after he assaulted a partially disabled, 72-year-old veteran in a King County hotel. The assault left the victim with a fractured jaw. There was probable cause to arrest Hansen for Assault 2nd degree.

August 7, 2020, Spokane Police Officers responded to a residence in the area of 2000 E. Sinto Avenue after receiving an anonymous tip about Hansen’s location. He was not located last night but officers continued to follow up on the lead. This morning, around 6:30 am, Hansen’s car was found at the location.

Officers made contact at the residence and took Hansen into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Spokane County Jail and booked. He will await transfer back to King County. Hansen had an outstanding probation warrant out of Alaska for dangerous drugs charges. Hansen’s bail was set at $10,000 for the assault arrest.

We as a department are grateful when a community member gets involved and does the right. Speaking up about the known location of a violent wanted person is another example of how SPD and the community work together to keep our city a little bit safer.
