This morning, an early morning fire was intentionally set at a downtown business. Spokane Police located the suspect a few hours later and took him into custody.

On October 27, 2020, a little before 4:30 a.m., a fire was reported on the outside of a business in the area of 400 W. Riverside Avenue. The Spokane Fire Department asked SPD to respond and investigate the arson fire.

The victim business had surveillance video, showing a male starting the fire, which greatly assisted in the investigation. The video was provided to officers in the Downtown Precinct in an attempt to locate the suspect.

Officer Prim located the suspect, 32-year-old Charles A. Campbell, at 3rd Avenue and Howard Street around 10:43 a.m. Campbell was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for a felony Department of Corrections warrant and Arson 2nd degree.

Campbell is a convicted felon. His most recent convictions are Theft of Motor Vehicle and Burglary 2nd degree.
