On December 27, 2020, around 6 a.m., Spokane Police Department (SPD) officers were sent to a report of a shooting in the area of Madelia Street and 1st Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the male shooting victim inside a residence.

Officers provided emergency first aid to the victim who appeared to have a gunshot wound to the torso. At the time, the victim was conscious and talking.

The victim stated he had been shot outside of the residence while standing next to his car.
