Fatal vehicle vs pedestrian collision in northeast Spokane
On 01-10-2021 a little before 5PM, SPD responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on N Cincinnati St near Olympic Ave. SPD and SFD crews discovered an adult female who had been struck by a vehicle. Despite life-saving measures, the female succumbed to her injuries on scene.
The initial investigation showed that the driver of the involved vehicle was in a dating relationship with the deceased person.
Investigators found indications that the driver of the vehicle was impaired at the time of the collision. The driver was arrested for vehicular homicide based on being intoxicated while operating a vehicle which caused the death of another person. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators.
The investigation is on-going.
After several hours of investigation the scene has now been processed and streets have been re-opened in the area.
