Business owner views burglar on property via cell phone surveillance footage, SPD Officers respond and arrest 16 time felon

On May 26, 2021 at approximately 2:00am, 911 received a phone call from a local business owner of an establishment in the area of 3800 E. Dalke Avenue. The caller told 911 she was not in town, but received a security alert from on-site security cameras linked to her cell phone. Additionally, she could see two individuals within the inner fenced area of her business and neither of them were authorized to be there. She was able to provide a detailed clothing description of one of the suspects prior to SPD arrival.

Power and graveyard shift officers arrived on scene and observed one suspect matching the description the caller provided. The suspect initially escaped through a hole cut in the fence, but was apprehended by Officers shortly thereafter.

The caller provided screenshots of the surveillance footage which matched the unique clothing description of the suspect. The suspect was identified as Devin Johnson (31 y/o). Johnson was arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary. Johnson was in possession of multiple sets of vehicle keys which matched the make of vehicles inside the fenced area of the business. Further investigation revealed those keys provided access to the vehicles which belonged to the property owner, and those vehicles appeared to have been ransacked by Johnson.

Johnson was additionally charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Vehicle Trespass, one count of 3rd Degree Malicious Mischief and one count of Making/Possessing Burglary Tools.

Johnson is a 16 time felon, to include Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Residential Burglary.

The second suspect in this incident was never located or identified.
