Hit and run puts two people in the hospital

On April 7, 2022 at 1130 am, a Spokane Police officer observed a vehicle driving recklessly around several motorists and attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of N. Lidgerwood and E. Wellesley Ave.  The vehicle failed to yield to the officer and fled going south bound on N. Lidgerwood St. at a high rate of speed.  The officer immediately discontinued the traffic stop.  The driver drove through two stops signs prior to colliding with a vehicle at the intersection of N. Lidgerwood St. and E. Empire Ave, broke a power pole in half, and ended up crashing into a neighbor’s yard.  The driver got out of the vehicle leaving two passengers behind and fled the scene.  The passengers were transported to the hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.  The driver who was struck by the suspect vehicle, sustained minor injuries.

Major crimes arrived on scene and is investigating the collision. The E. Empire Ave and N. Lidgerwood St. intersection was closed until the scene was processed.

At this time the suspect is outstanding and Spokane Police are actively searching for the driver.  Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not spoken with investigators, is asked to call crime check at 509-456-2233 reference incident 2022-20057845.
