Update 3/21/23:

SPD is seeking information related to an on-going homicide investigation

On 03-12-2023, the body of 57-year-old Nicholas A. Wright was discovered near High Bridge Park, on a remote hillside between Inland Empire Way and W Sunset Blvd.

The circumstances surrounding Wright’s death is being investigated by Spokane Police Department Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detectives. Initial observations of the scene indicated Wright’s death involved possible criminality (see original release below). The Spokane County Medical Examiner has since determined Wright’s cause of death was homicide.

Anyone with information about Wright, or anyone who observed suspicious activity near the scene, is asked to contact Detective Brown at jbrown@spokanepolice.org reference incident 2023-20047094.

Often in cases people possess information they view as trivial or unimportant, but that information may be crucial to investigators.

Original Release 3/13/23:

Suspicious death discovered at High Bridge Park

On March 12, 2023, around 5:00 pm, a dead body was discovered at High Bridge Park.  Patrol arrived and discovered an adult male deceased within the park.  Physical observations of the deceased led officers to believe there was potential criminality.  SPD’s Major Crimes Unit responded and is currently investigating. 

This is an active investigation and more information will be released at a later date.  The identity of the deceased person and the cause and manner of death will be released by the medical examiner.
