Thanks in part to a citizen tip, 72-year-old Michael Cotter was identified and arrested for felony hit-and-run.

SPD is seeking assistance in locating suspect from a hit and run

On March 23, 2023, at 4:00 pm officers responded to the 1400 block of East Illinois Ave for a hit and run.  The victim was trying to jump start a vehicle when he was pinned between two vehicles.  The driver of the other vehicle fled the area leaving the victim with severe injuries that required immediate hospitalization.

The suspect is described as an older white male who appears to be missing his right arm.  The vehicle is described as an older white truck with a brown or red stripe and white canopy.  See photographs below. 

If you have any information on the vehicle or the suspect, you are asked to call 911 and reference incident 2023-20054612.
