SPD arrests suspect involved in string of local commercial burglaries after patrol officers recognize suspect from security video
On 3-5-24 at about 7:20am, Spokane Police Officers assigned to the North-West sector observed a male walking in the area of Washington and Boone. The male matched the description of a suspect involved in a burglary the day before in the 1600 block of North Division. The male was contacted and detained at that time. Officers were able to link the suspect to the 3-4-24 burglary based on the security video from the victim business.
During the course of the investigation, officers determined the suspect male was involved in multiple burglaries dating back to the end of February. The incidents involved businesses in the same general area that experienced similar victimization with the suspect breaking windows with a rock to enter the business, and stealing items including bedding and food. At the completion of the investigation, a total of five burglaries were linked to the suspect. Joshua L. Edwards (48) was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for 5 counts of 2nd Degree Commercial Burglary, 5 counts of 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief and 5 counts of Third Degree Theft.
