On May 13th, 2024 at 9:27pm, Spokane Police contacted a male subject on a traffic stop in the area of Maple and Sharp. The male had an active felony warrant for his arrest stemming from Department Of Corrections (DOC) violations. Jarrell D. Williams (44) was taken into custody on the DOC warrant and transported to the Spokane County Jail.
After arriving, Williams was being processed for his warrant when he removed a concealed object from his person. The item was a white powdered substance. Williams purposely threw the powder toward the toilet in the processing area. The powder dispersed throughout the holding cell, exposing two corrections officers. The substance was visibly seen on the uniforms of the exposed staff. The officers displayed physical effects of a possible fentanyl exposure. Jail staff quickly responded and both officers were given Narcan with one of them requiring a second dose. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Due to the deliberate act of throwing the dangerous substance in the cell that exposed both officers to a highly dangerous and potentially lethal drug, Williams was charged with two counts of 3rd Degree Assault as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. Williams has extensive drug history with prior felony convictions for Delivery of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Distribute.
