The Spokane Police Department is wanting to make community members aware of an issue that has arisen in the Washington State Court System. Due to a software issue, the ability to perform background checks in regard to Concealed Pistol License (CPL) applications will be delayed. The issue stems from a cyber security incident and has affected agencies statewide in their ability to properly perform background checks before issuing CPL’s.

SPD will strive to complete CPL applications as soon as practical, but the software issue has created an unavoidable delay. Once the issue has been corrected, CPL applications will be processed.
