Just after 5:30am today, SPD responded to the area of 49th and Perry on a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.  As officers were responding, 911 was advised that the driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle and a passenger behind.  An unresponsive adult female was found in the roadway, and she was quickly transported to a local hospital where she is in critical condition.

Officers were updated with the direction of travel for the driver by community members.  As the area was being searched, information was provided to 911 that a male matching the suspect description was observed running in the area of 195 and Eagle Ridge.  Officers responded and detained a 17-year-old male who was not wearing any shoes.  Officers were able to determine that this male was the driver of the suspect vehicle.

The initial investigation revealed the victim, and a friend were jogging when the collision took place.  It also appears speed and impairment were involved with this incident.  The suspect was taken into custody for Vehicular Assault, Felony Hit and Run and DUI.  The passenger in the vehicle, also a juvenile was treated for minor injuries.
