On October 7th, 2025, at 1:22pm, 911 was advised of a high-speed collision involving two vehicles, one being a motorcycle.  Multiple calls came into 911 with one caller advising estimated speeds of the motorcycle at 90 mph.  Police and medics arrived at the location to find the motorcycle operator down in the roadway.  Due to the high speeds and subsequent collision with another vehicle, the male (19) operating the motorcycle died at the scene.  Initial information indicated the motorcycle struck the rear of another vehicle.

Prior to the collision, SPD officers observed the same motorcycle near Nevada and Francis.  Officers attempted to stop the motorcycle after observing it did not have any license plates displayed.  The motorcycle failed to stop and fled north on Nevada at a very high rate of speed.  Officers made no attempt to follow it after it sped away.

Traffic Investigators with the SPD Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are at the scene to assist with the investigation.  The area around Nevada and St. Thomas Moore Way will be closed temporarily.
